MLO 3 Literacy and Cultural Knowledge.
Being well educated has always been a goal in my life, having the literacy and the cultural knowledge about the Hispanic world has been a great experience while studying at CSUMB. Culture is my focus point in the school of World Languages and Cultures, so having the opportunity to take several courses to gain the literacy about the culture has been a pleasure. I have taken several courses that helped me gain more knowledge not just about the Hispanic culture, since I come from it, but rather has given me the opportunity to fall in love with it. I have learned a lot about the systems that Hispanic countries have, I have learned a lot about the natives from different countries in Latin America. For example I took the class Span 306 which focused mainly in Latin America and gave the prospective of the continent as a whole finding similarities among the countries and comparing their traditions.
Taking this course gave me the opportunity to explore and learn more about South American countries.
Taking SPN 306 helped me to fulfill this MLO for many reasons; first of fall in this class I had the opportunity to study most of South American countries and their political systems, as well as the prehistoric civilizations, giving me the knowledge I need to be understand more their traditions as well as political structures.
Taking this course gave me the initiative I needed to love the Hispanic culture even more, in the future I plan to get my Masters Degree and I intend to do it in the cultural aspect, if possible related to the Mexican culture.
Some of the challenges I had fulfilling this MLO was the fact that I had to do a lot of reading and writing, as well as oral presentations, having in mind this was my first semester; however, this class also gave the opportunity to be a better writer and a better presenter.
