Rodriquez: MLO1
MLO 1. Language Proficiency.
MLO1 is the perfect way to express my ability to speak, listen, read, and write in Spanish. In order for me to be able to demonstrate that I have what it takes to a fluent Spanish speaker and also having good writing and listening skills my best bet is to give the list of all the courses that I have taken over the last 2 years at CSUMB. Some of my Spanish courses are: Span 301 Composition/Oral Practice, Span 304 Intro to Hispanic Literature, Span 305 Spanish for the Professionals, Span 330 Hispanic Testimonials, Span 310 Hispanic Children Literature, Span 316 Spanish Culture and Civilization, and Span 426 Narrativa Hispanoamericana, this are some of the courses taken that support the fact that I can speak, listen, write, and read in the high level required by all of the university courses mentioned above.
In order to gain the ability to speak in a proficient way, its important to mention that I come form a Spanish speaking background and that Spanish has been my primary language; however, the university courses have given me a lot of experience as far as getting a more professional way of speaking, this type of experience I got from my Span 305 course Spanish for the professional. In this class the main focus was about gaining the ability to speak in a more professional way by learning sophisticated vocabulary that could be used in a variety of situations such as job interviews, redacting professional letters, among many other experiences.
When it comes to listening, I am a master at it. I love to listen to other people’s ideas and learning form them. I don’t have a specific class that could be used as a good example for this, I would rather choose all of my classes to demonstrate with my grades the fact that I was able to listen to my classmates and the instructor to meet the class requirements.
Reading is one of the things about school that I like the most. In the fall of 2012 I took a class that required a lot of reading, this class was Narrativa Hispanoamericana. In this course we had to read Hispanic literature writers with sophisticated vocabulary and ideas just as difficult to analyze in a critical way, so this class gave me the ability to show my reading skills.
When It comes to writing there is not a single class to prove that I can write in a high standard way. All the Spanish classes that I have taken over the last two years in CSUMB have required me to write countless essays in a big variety of topics.
