MLO 1- Language Proficiency
Spanish is one language that I use in my daily life, as it is my primary language. When I was in High School I discovered that culture and literature were my passion. I decided to take three Spanish classes and advanced courses as a challenge to prove my ability to understand the language in advanced level. I passed both AP Spanish assessment with a five score in both parts writing and orally. I was there were I decide to take Spanish as my major and teach the language and culture. Then on the 2008 to 2011 I study in a community college Monterey Peninsula College were I also took Spanish courses such Span A and Span B. My teacher was from Costa Rica and she told me that I was really smart in the subject and it would be a great idea for me to major in Spanish. I those classes I improve my grammar and spelling because I studied the different kinds of words and depending in the tonic syllable I was able to put the accents on each word. I also study the past, present and future from of different verbs. I graduated from college with an Associated Degree in Spanish. Later during my education period at Monterey Bay University I had been taking a lot of courses where I applied my abilities such speaking, listening, reading and writing abilities. For speaking ability I took Spanish 306 course, where I studied about the Hispanic Latin American culture and it pre Columbian origin. In this class I did two-presentation one individual in one in-group. I had to choose a Latin American topic or something relate to culture and literature. I decided to present about a Peru civilization about the Incas. In this project I did a lot of research about their culture, religion, tradition, and their origins. I had to make a PowerPoint and present an overview of this civilization. The main idea was to explain how this civilization was born and how it dies. Also I took Spanish 304 In this class I proved my ability to speak, but also to write because I had to write essay about several novels and also make class presentations about authors and novels assigned by the teacher. The presentations were in groups. Spanish 310 was also one of my courses where I had to write, read a lot and also make group presentations. In this class I proved the different four abilities because I made a video group presentation about a book, I wrote bibliographies about five books. Spanish 305 was an interesting class because in there students have to make translation from Spanish to English or vice versa. In this class I improved my ability to speak as a professional because the vocabulary that I learned from it was for professional.
The following are some work examples of the courses that i took to fullfill MLO 1.
