Margarita Martinez Rivera

My name is Margarita Martinez Rivera a California State University of Monterey Bay student. I am graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish this semester spring 2013. I come from a family of seven members, I being the second oldest child. I will be the first one in my family to graduate from a four year university earning a bachelor’s degree.
I took many literature and culture classes while being at CSUMB, and that's how I became interested in majoring in Spanish with emphasis in literature and culture and a minor in social work. My native language is Spanish I love speaking in my native language, indeed, that's another reason why I major in Spanish.
I have learned that being bilingual is very important in the Monterey County. Since there are many Hispanic communities, being a bilingual teacher in the Monterey County is important since there is a high population of Hispanic students and not very much bilingual teacher.
I came from Mexico, when I was ten years old and I have lived all my life in the Monterey County. Therefore, I would like to teach within the Monterey County, and stay in the California state.
I am proud of being in the World Language and Culture program because through this program I gain knowledge about Spanish culture and literature. I also learned how the role of a professor is which inspires me to become one. I love helping with children, teaching them what I know and helping them broader their knowledge. I want to motivate children continue their education by a good role model teacher in their education and life.
I would also like get a teaching credential to be able to teach at any public school and later get my Master's degree in education as well.
As a future teacher I hope to educate students and teach them about Spanish culture and literature. I believe it is important for students to have knowledge about our culture and literature. Moreover, culture is important because our culture is what defines us. Literature it is another piece I believe it is important for students to know because there is many rich literature from where we can learn important historical event, and important dates.
In my ePorfolio you will be able to find my MLO's, resume, ILP a list of all my classes taken to meet the requirements, and my capstone paper. In each MLO I have explained how I met each outcome and have provided examples of my work for each outcome met.
This study will demonstrate the important beliefs that the Aztec people had in doing human sacrifices, and how it was something essential for them to do. The main focus in this paper will be in depth about the Aztec religion, priests, and human sacrifices. This paper will describe the different types of gods and the role of each one. I will talk about the altars where the
sacrifices took place. I will describe in detail how human sacrifices were done. I will also explain what role the priests play in the human sacrifices and overall in the religion. I am also doing to talk the importance that war was for them in their religion. I will briefly explain how their culture was related to religion. At the end I would conclude how this empire was extinct.
