Luong: MLO6
Along with being a Spanish major, I am also a Psychology major. Being a psychology student, research is all we did in the courses I’ve taken. The courses I’ve taken to assist me in organizing, analyzing and gathering data have been from the courses: Psy 200: Intro to Research and Methods with Data Analysis, Psy 300: Psychology pre-Capstone, Psy 302: Research and Methods with Data Analysis, and Psychology Capstone. In Psy 302: Research and Methods, I learned how to research for information on my choice of topic and finding the relevant journals to use related to my topic. After finding a few journals, we had to create a literature review. What was included in the literature review was an abstract or an introduction to what the journal/study was about, explaining the methods the researcher used along with the demographics of the participants, describing the results from the study, and finally discussing the findings and if there are any improvements we can apply to the study. Now it is our turn create our own research question and gather our own data. This class has helped me prepare for the Psychology and Spanish Capstone I have now.
The resources I’ve found for supporting my study mostly came from scholarly journals I’ve found from the CSUMB library website. Doing the annotated bibliography has helped me with re-familiarizing myself with the MLA format. I have always been used to APA format due to being a Psychology student that I have not had much experience with MLA. Both formats are not completely different from one another but there are little changes that I need to be aware of.
