Luong: MLO2
I completed this outcome by taking multiple courses of language and grammar classes. Most of the courses of which I took in Spain were: Speaking and Writing Skills, Notions of Spanish Grammar, Phonetics, and a Preparatory Language Program: Spanish Language and Culture, which consists of two intense grammar and conversational courses. My classes were taken at the main facility of the Centro de Lenguas Modernas, Center of Modern Languages. This facility is affiliated with the University of Granada, meant to facilitate mostly international students. I found that being in the 4 weeks, Preparatory Language Program really increase my conversational skill. The feeling of learning in an environment where Spanish was the only spoken language and you continue to speak Spanish after class has dismissed. The course Notions of Spanish Grammar was the course I had struggled in.
Grammar has always been difficult for me to learn and understand. It took a great amount of studying and questioning for me to begin to understand how to form certain sentences in the correct grammatical way. While taking my Phonetics class in Spain, I found that I did well throughout the whole class. I am able to enunciate words with little difficulty and understand the meaning behind the pronunciations. I received a grade A at the end of the course. I think taking the Preparatory Language Program at the beginning of my study in Spain really helped me prepare for my non-linguistics related classes. It helped me adapt and understand a little more of the Granadian (natives from Granada) accents for be to practice my conversation skills outside of the classroom.
