MLO #6- Information Technology Literacy
In many of my course, during my study of Spanish, I was required the usage of appropriate information resources. I was able to fulfill this by using the resources through the school library catalog. I was able to go online and search for educated articles as well as books. During our Capstone class, we had a class with a librarian and she helped us learn how to navigate through the school system. I never though hoe efficient this would be and how helpful it would become during my search for my essays.
Another important technology skill that became really handy was the power point presentations we had to do throughout the school year. In many of my classes we were required to do presentation and preparing for them and organizing them was sometimes challenging but after several presentations this became easier. I would first start researching my topic in the school library and I would gradually find more and more information. It was nice to know that there was always a librarian willing to help.
I really enjoy learning how to create a portfolio for the capstone class. This technology tool helped me be more organized with my school information for capstone. I learned how to scan papers for my classes and make them into links that any person reading my capstone can open and have access to them. I found this technology to be more accessible for a bigger audience. I receive a lot of help from Gus Leonard from the technology desk form the Spanish Department.
Overall I think my experience in the Spanish Major and the technology need was great. I enjoyed all the free assessments from the library and the technology desk. I do see the capstone portfolio as another helpful skill that I’m going to carry throughout my career. When I look back to the beginning of my career at CSUMB I see the advanced I have made in my presentations and my skills in preparing for them.
