MLO#2- Language and Linguistic Knowledge
I have develop an understanding of the structure of the Spanish Language and I am able to use an appropriate level of formality whether in writing or in speech. In the Spanish course 301 Composition and Oral Practice; I was able to learn language and linguistic aspects. In this course we learned about the proper way to write the Spanish language and the use of grammar. This course required us to practice problems using proper Spanish as well for speech presentations. The second course that I took was Spanish 303. This course is also a grammar class. In this course we followed the grammar from the book assigned to the class. We practice among ourselves and with other students to get an in depth idea of the proper way to write in Spanish.
Both classes have helped me better my writing as well as my speech in Spanish. They have helped me modify the proper way to format a professional essay and presentations. I also learned a lot about the history of certain countries. Mainly in both classes it focused in the country of Spain, but they did make references to other countries were a word in one country may represent something but in another country may mean something totally different.
In the course 303, we focused in translations. By practicing translations, it helps me better my knowledge of how to be come a better interpreter of both English and Spanish. It does require a lot of practicing because it is difficult to get the perfect meaning of one language then translate it to another. This practice helped me to be more aware of the possibilities a profession in translations requires. Just the fact that you can use a language and make it career from it is fascinating. Spanish as a profession is a field were I would like to devote my life and make a career from. The language and linguistic portion from the career is the most interesting part because it is the proper and respectful way to approach a career in Spanish.
